Citizenship Education
Discover how Sembawang Primary builds active, rooted citizens through Social Studies, National Education, heritage learning, and community action.
Citizenship Education
Citizenship Education at Sembawang Primary School empowers students to understand Singapore's past, appreciate its present and contribute confidently to its future. Through authentic learning experiences, students develop a strong sense of belonging, confidence in Singapore's future and a commitment to contribute meaningfully to their community and nation.
Students are encouraged to think critically, appreciate diverse perspectives and recognise that every individual has a role to play in building an inclusive and resilient society.
Social Studies
Social Studies forms the foundation of Citizenship Education by providing students with opportunities to inquire into real-world issues and understand Singapore's development in an interconnected world.
Through inquiry-based learning, collaborative discussions, performance tasks and authentic learning experiences, students develop critical thinking skills, appreciate multiple perspectives and grow as informed, concerned and participative citizens.
National Education
National Education strengthens students' understanding of Singapore's history, challenges and aspirations through meaningful learning experiences. Students participate in commemorative events such as Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day, while key National Education messages are reinforced throughout the year through classroom learning and Positive Minutes.
Primary 5 students also participate in the National Education Show, providing an authentic experience that deepens their appreciation of Singapore's journey and shared future.

Values in Action (VIA)
Values in Action enables students to contribute meaningfully to their community through authentic service-learning experiences. Students identify community needs, collaborate with others to make a positive difference and reflect on how their actions can improve the lives of others.

Education and Career Guidance (ECG)
Education and Career Guidance helps students discover their strengths, interests and aspirations while understanding how they can contribute meaningfully to society. Through authentic experiences and meaningful conversations, students develop a growth mindset towards lifelong learning and purposeful contribution.
